Introduction to AdvancED
The NWAC Commission and Board of Trustees voted at the Annual Meeting in December to approve new bylaws that officially make NWAC a division of AdvancED. The official date of the merger is July 1, 2012 but transition activities will begin immediately.
AdvancED is the world's largest accrediting and school improvement agency and provides a clear and systematic program of evaluation and external review through a network of state offices. School improvement services and resources include an integrated approach to continual self-assessment and improvement, offering surveys, publications, and professional services including the ASSIST framework.
NWAC member schools will retain the regional affiliation and operation. State councils will still assist with all evaluations and school improvement activities. Communications, opportunity to volunteer, input and service for member schools will be enhanced. Additional information can be found at www.advanc-ed.org
